With the remake of Susanne Bier’s 2006 film “After the Wedding,” starring Michelle Williams and Julianne Moore, now in theaters, IndieWire takes a closer look at some of English-language cinema’s most successful remakes of foreign classics. While American cover versions of foreign films often get lost in translation, there are cases in which the remake is, in fact, even better than its source material.
