Guy Fieri has featured 13 Memphis restaurants on his iconic Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”  On Dec. 15 that number changes to 14.

Whitehaven restaurant Trap Fusion will be featured on the episode titled “Southern, Western & North of the Border," which airs at 8 p.m. CST Dec. 15.

The episode’s description states: “Guy Fieri's digging dishes from across the map. In Buffalo, Wyo., it's scratch-made Italian that's hitting all the flavor notes. Then, in Calgary, Alberta, a Venezuelan spot is keeping it fresh, tasty and gluten-free, while in Memphis, Tenn., a Southern-Caribbean mashup is serving oxtail and lamb chops with extra spice.”

Trap Fusion's reaction to Guy Fieri's visit

Trap Fusion owners Markeith McCoy and Jason Gardner said they are thrilled and honored to have been chosen by Fieri.

Their restaurant that features from-scratch, healthier versions of soul food with influences of Cajun and Caribbean fare opened in May 2019 in Whitehaven at 4637 Boeingshire Drive. A second location opened in Cordova at 670 N. Germantown Parkway, Suite 14, in late 2020.

“I believe the economic impact of Trap Fusion’s appearance on Food Network will not just benefit the owners of Trap Fusion, but also the communities in which we serve,” McCoy said. “We’ve thankfully have been able to provide jobs to the Whitehaven and Cordova areas for the past four years and with the impending surge in business we can expect the ability to provide additional employment opportunities in Memphis for years to come.”

The two business partners are both humbled to be part of the group of Memphis restaurants featured on the popular Food Network show.

“When I was informed that Guy wanted to visit Trap Fusion, I instantly knew our hard work and dedication to our craft had not gone unnoticed," Gardner said. "To be recognized on a national scale was our dream as small business owners rooted in our celebrated Whitehaven community. Memphis has been historically known for great cuisine and it’s truly an honor to be recognized amongst other great restaurants of our city.”
