'Modern Family' Cast Emotionally Documents Final Table Read: 'They Left Tissues for All of Us'
The series finale of 'Modern Family' will air on April 8
Modern Family has finally found a streaming home… or two.
The critically acclaimed, award-winning comedy series is heading to Hulu and Peacock, it was announced Tuesday. All 11 seasons will be available to watch on both streaming services beginning Feb. 3.
During Modern Family's 250-episode run, Hulu subscribers were able to watch episodes the day after they aired. But this is the first time that the entire library will be available to stream.
Over the course of its long run, Modern Family racked up 85 Emmy nominations and 22 wins, with five for Outstanding Comedy Series — tying Frasier for the record for most wins in that category. Modern Family also won a Golden Globe, numerous SAG Awards, and many honors.
Created and executive-produced by Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd, Modern Family starred Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, and Rico Rodriguez. Premiering in 2009 on ABC, the mockumentary-style sitcom followed the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker extended family through its series finale in April 2020.
"I don't think it would be fair for me to decide what the legacy of the show is," Lloyd previously told EW about the end of Modern Family. "That's for others to say. I can certainly say, I'm very proud that we maybe even inadvertently have done a nice thing for the LGBTQ community. When we designed Mitch [Ferguson] and Cam [Stonestreet], they were meant to be in many ways the most traditional of our couples, just two people whose lives were built around this little girl. It wasn't about their being gay. But when we moved to a gay wedding episode and it kind of helped to normalize things, it was a lovely thing to hear from people. All the time we would hear fans say, 'You made it easier for me to discuss my sexual orientation with my family.' And if we made anybody's life easier in any way, it was great. Mostly we were just trying to be funny or give people something to watch together on a Wednesday night."
