But yes it’s true, the Barbie movie was easily one of the most heartfelt films we’ve seen in a long while. So much of the set was built with the iconic playsets in mind, and all with an eye to practical effects and a pink dreamy mood. The costume designers stepped up to match, and in creating the aesthetic of the film, director Greta Gerwig told us, “we were picking these bright, saturated colors. The result was that the set was like a dopamine generator. People would walk in and smile.” We definitely think she succeeded — and those bright, saturated dopamine-generating clothes should be your goal too for October 31st.
