10th annual Major Rager benefit concert going back to its roots

AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- There are lots of popular events happening this weekend and a big one for music lovers on Saturday night.

It’s the 10th annual Major Rager Concert. This year it’s going back to its roots at the Augusta Common, where it was held the first time.

The Major Rager is hosted by ‘Friends with Benefits Productions’ to benefit local charities.

The organization has contributed to The Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude’s Hospital, Turn Back the Block, and the Press On Fund.

A portion from every ticket sold this year will go to the Hale House Foundation- a transitional recovery program for men struggling with substance abuse.

“It means so much. You know, I’m in recovery myself and seeing everything that they’ve done and being able to help them. You know, it’s a struggle. It’s a struggle to get, you know, grants and stuff like that for them. So anything that we can do to help out, we do and can,” explained George Claussen IV, Founder of Friends with Benefits Productions.

In the past, big acts like Zac Brown Band and The Flaming Lips have performed.

Acts this year include Marcus King Band, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country and popular local band-“Funk You.”

The Women’s Titleholders golf tournament was considered the ‘Women’s Masters’

“A big stage, the city stage that’s out there, but it’ll be up with banners and a lot of food vendors and the VIP sections and everything like that– you would normally see at a concert down here. It’s really a rock jam bass. So, Marcus King Band is awesome. He’s gotten huge. I’m super excited to have him here,” said Claussen.

The Major Rager is happening Saturday night at the Augusta Common in downtown Augusta.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m.

Tickets are still available and you can find them on the Major Rager website.
