This is the Bloody Mary that made several trips to the buffet.

The extravagant new cocktail at The Ben boutique hotel in downtown West Palm Beach wants to be so much more than a cocktail. It aspires to be a fancy happy hour and lunch and maybe dinner.

Behold the Benjamin, a Bloody Mary designed to be shared, explored and, of course, splendidly Instagrammed and TikTokked.

The sharing part of the cocktail is what sparked the hotel general manager’s imagination. Bernardo Neto says he wanted “to bring people together again," after the pandemic-imposed distances.

"Now, our time together is valued more than ever," he says.

The result is a culinary mash-up created by the hotel's new executive chef Marc Rosen, whose team will adapt the drink/dish to cater to seafood lovers or meat lovers as well as to those who prefer their “bloodies” with booze or without.

So, think a hefty Bloody Mary mug crowned with a wild bouquet of bites like a full lobster tail, a lollipop lamb chop, chicken slider, jumbo shrimp, sushi rolls, fried chicken wings, cheese cubes, maybe a mac-and-cheese waffle and maybe some skewered berries.

“We found that guests love our seafood tower at Spruzzo. They love the shareable items that are easy,” says Neto. “Our guests don’t want to sit through a long tasting event that will interrupt conversations between friends. And this is something they can order for fun and take some pictures.”

How hefty is this Benjamin Bloody Mary?

“Let me put it this way: If you and I were sitting across from one another at the table, we couldn’t see each other. That’s how big it is,” Neto says with a laugh.

The new cocktail, which made its debut Sept. 17, is served at both of the hotel’s restaurants, the Proper Grit Whiskey Library downstairs and Spruzzo, The Ben’s rooftop, small-plates bar.

Of course, all that food bling comes at a price: $100. Each Benjamin will cost you a Benjamin.
