Looking ahead at this weekend and next week, there are concerts by Chance the Rapper, the Goo Goo Dolls and Guns N’ Roses (all with tickets available as of press time), plus an annual night for dance and a two-day gathering for Bulls fans.

‘Dance for Life’

Chicago Dancers United presents this summer’s “Dance for Life,” a one-night, star-filled benefit with performances from Chicago dance companies — this year including Hubbard Street Dance, Joffrey Ballet, BOOM CRACK! Dance Co., Chicago Tap Allstars, Giordano Dance Chicago and South Chicago Dance Theatre, Hiplet Ballerinas, the dancers Joseph Massarelli and Riho Sakamoto, Moonwater Dance Project, Muntu Dance Theatre and a finale by choreographer Randy Duncan. The event supports the local nonprofit with a mission to support the health and wellness of Chicago’s professional dance community through its Dancers’ Fund.

Bulls Fest

This two-day festival celebrates all things basketball and gives fans a chance to play, including in a 3v3 tournament for adults and kids. Younger players can also participate in youth clinics. Other activities include a 3-point contest and a dunk contest. Plus you can meet Bulls legends such as Randy Brown, Eddy Curry, Will Perdue, Nate Robinson and Horace Grant, and catch music performances.

Chance the Rapper

The from-Chicago superstar also known as Chancelor Johnathan Bennett has been pulling out all the stops to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his career-defining “Acid Rap” mixtape, including with an Apple Store appearance, a WNDR Museum pop-up store and a concert at the United Center.

‘Star Wars Night’ at Chicago Dogs

Question: if you hit a fastball with a lightsaber, would there be anything left to catch? “Star Wars” fans should get themselves to this minor-league baseball game in Rosemont this weekend. The Chicago Dogs are hosting the Cleburne Railroaders in a special “Star Wars” theme night; come dressed for the occasion. Plus the usual Saturday night fireworks at Impact Field.

Mid-America Bonsai Show and Sale

One of the largest regional bonsai shows in the U.S. is marking its 45th year. Presented by the Midwest Bonsai Society, this event gives attendees a chance to see bonsai trees, shop for plants and learn from experts. Bonsai lovers from around the nation bring their trees to be judged.

International Museum of Surgical Science Family Day

This family-friendly event will feature multisensory activities, a scavenger hunt and a medical history game. Visitors can explore the museum’s permanent exhibits as well as its rotating art installations.

Glenwood Ave Arts Fest

‘Murder, Rewrote’

This could only be a Hell in a Handbag show. In a musical parody of the beloved TV show that shall remain nameless, a mystery writer visits the mansion of a faded movie star (David Cerda), only to find the star’s extremely annoying daughter murdered. Directed by Anthony Whitaker.
