Romance comes and goes, but these stars know that friendship is forever.

Despite sharing a past partner, BFFs including Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid didn't let drama come between them. Some stars have seen their friends marry their exes and cheered them on, while others – like Miranda Kerr and Katy Perry – created a genuine friendship because of their overlapping dating history.

Read on about the A-listers who prioritized their pals over former flames and stayed friends despite dating the same people.

Both of the Friends stars have a common ex in Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz. He and Aniston struck up a fling in 1995, when they met at the Hollywood hotspot The Viper Room. During his appearance in VICE TV's Dark Side of the '90s docuseries, Duritz complimented his ex.

"She was really nice, really funny, really pretty, those were pretty good requirements for me and also she liked me. It didn't last very long, but she's a nice girl," he recalled in a clip shared by Entertainment Tonight.

His following relationship with Cox was short-lived, but she did appear in his band's music video for their song "A Long December" in 1997.

The "Cruel Summer" singer dated Joe Jonas in 2008, and seven years later her model BFF dated him too.

Swift and Joe had a famously fraught breakup that concluded with her calling him out on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for breaking up with her in a brief phone call. But in the years after, the two mended the rift, particularly when he and Hadid started hanging out. Both were spotted at Swift's 2015 fourth of July party along with several of their other A-list pals.

Ultimately, Hadid and Jonas went their separate ways that autumn after just five months together. Confirming their split at the time, a source told PEOPLE that "it wasn't a dramatic break up. It was just hard to make it work with their schedules. They will definitely remain friends.”

Days after Joe and Sophie Turner ended their six-year marriage in September 2023, the Game of Thrones alumna was seen out and about in New York City during several dinners with Swift.

That said, Swift and Turner didn't have any "Bad Blood" prior to her split from Joe, with whom she shares two daughters. In particular, Turner proved her allegiance to her then-husband's ex when Swift's Fearless (Taylor's Version) dropped featuring the track "Mr. Perfectly Fine," which many fans speculated was written about Joe years prior, following their bitter breakup.

Turner's take? "It's not NOT a bop," she wrote on Instagram. In response, Swift paid homage to Turner's Game of Thrones character Sansa Stark: "Forever bending the knee to the 👑 of the north," she wrote on Instagram.

During their Disney Channel days, Gomez and Cyrus shared a common ex in Nick Jonas. Cyrus began dating the Jonas Brother when they were both just 13 years old in 2006. A couple years later, the Hannah Montana alum told Seventeen Magazine that they were genuinely "in love" during their relationship, and they remained "really good buds" after breaking up.

The Only Murders in the Building star first started dating the "Jealous" singer in 2008 — and even met her best friend Taylor Swift on a double date with Nick's older brother Joe. Gomez and Nick were on-and-off until 2010, but she later confirmed that they kept things amicable and called it "puppy love."

Despite sharing an ex during their teenage years, Cyrus and Gomez have proven their lasting friendship. When they both dropped singles on the same day in August 2023, the singers showed their support for each other's work on Instagram. They both playfully shared a clip from a Hannah Montana episode guest-starring Selena Gomez in which their characters trash talk each other.

"@mileycyrus and I both have a SINGLE SOON and we are releasing on the same day,” Gomez wrote, referencing both of their song titles. “We have been friends since we USED TO BE YOUNG."

Despite the potential for dating drama, these two on-screen vampires aren't at each other's throats. Dobrev and her Vampire Diaries costar Ian Somerhalder dated from 2010 to 2013, mirroring the on-screen romance between between their characters Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore.

In 2015, Somerhalder and Twilight star Nikki Reed tied the knot in Malibu after about a year of dating. They've since become parents of two: their daughter Bodhi was born in 2017, and they welcomed a son in 2023.

Reed and Dobrev – who has been linked to Olympian Shaun White since 2020 – have kept the peace and remain friends. On an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Dobrev even said she grabs dinner with the couple every so often.

"Why can't everyone be friends? I think they have a beautiful baby, and they are happy and so am I," she explained on Cohen's show in 2019. "What's bad about that? I don't see any problem with that."

Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr

As parents to half-siblings, Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr are completely on the same team, even though the singer is engaged to Kerr's ex, Orlando Bloom. (Bloom shares daughter Daisy Dove, 3, with the "Roar" singer and 12-year-old son Flynn with Kerr.)

Besides having a strong blended family dynamic, which includes going on vacations together, the two women support each other as individuals. Perry presented the model with the Excellence in Arts award at the 2023 G'Day USA Arts Gala, and she wasn't afraid to acknowledge the basis of their unique friendship.

"Some of you might be confused about why I'm introducing Miranda. That doesn't play into the antiquated narrative of ex-wives and new wives," the Grammy nominee explained on stage. "And yes, it's true, most of the media would like to see us mud wrestle — including [her husband] Evan [Spiegel] — but we are here to lead by love because Miranda is love."

The two actresses both spent some time with Bradley Cooper in the early 2010s, but share plenty of other interesting things in common, including being powerful girl bosses and fashionistas. In 2021, Lopez took to Facebook to share a selfie snapped with the Avatar star during a Dolce & Gabbana event.

Cooper dated Renée Zellweger for a few months in 2011 before he moved on to Lopez, then Saldaña. Zellweger and Saldaña looked like they had lots to catch up on at Miu Miu's Paris Fashion Week show in 2013, just a few months after Saldaña and Cooper's split.

Nick Lachey and Nick Cannon

Nick Lachey and Nick Cannon have more than just their name in common. The two pals both dated Kim Kardashian back in the day, well before the Love Is Blind co-host appeared on Cannon's show The Masked Singer in 2021.

That said, Cannon's months-long fling with the Skims founder was certainly more substantial than Lachey's, who claims they only went on one date together. During a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 98 Degrees alum qualified that calling Kardashian his "ex" was "a little bit of a liberal use of the term.”

"I think we went on one date together," he added.

Barrymore dated The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti from 2002 to 2007. A few years later, in 2011, the musician starting dating Kristen Wiig, who had costarred with Barrymore in Whip It just two years earlier. The Saturday Night Live alumna and Moretti stayed together until 2013, though a source told PEOPLE that they ended on "completely amicable" terms.

While Barrymore did call Wiig and Moretti's relationship "wacky and incestuous" in a 2012 interview with Allure, she also said that their romance wasn't totally surprising.

"It seems fitting that they would find each other," she explained. "I was like, 'Right, of course, that makes perfect sense.'"

Despite it all, the friends manage to avoid any major drama or damage to their friendship. Wiig even appeared on Barrymore's talk show via video chat in February 2021, and they shared a laugh while discussing parenthood during quarantine.
