A Massachusetts boy is searching for a necklace containing his late mother's ashes that went missing on a soccer field last week.

Conor Datri, 10, of Plymouth, wears the pendant daily to feel close to his mother, Lynelle Leonard, who died in a car crash three years ago, FOX affiliate WFXT reported.

Melissa Moriarty, Conor’s grandmother, said that Conor was at West Elementary School’s soccer field where he lost the necklace, per CBS affiliate WBZ.

The necklace carried a heart-shaped locket that featured an engraving of Leonard’s fingerprint and initials.

“He wears it all the time, and he only takes it off when he showers," Moriarty told WFXT. "This is like the only thing that he really has of his mom."

Volunteers have searched the soccer field but haven’t come up with the missing item, WBZ reported.

“Everyone that went out there, and with their metal detectors, it meant so much to me,” Moriarty told WFXT. “My heart goes out to every single one that went looking on that rainy day [Saturday].”
