12 Celebrities Who Just Had To Make Transphobic Comments

Sometimes celebrities just don’t know when to sit down and shut up.

This week the Irish singer Róisín Murphy posted an apology to X (formerly Twitter) after a Facebook post came to light where she pleaded with people to not call her a TERF and wrote, “But puberty blockers are f---ed, absolutely desolate, big pharma laughing all the way to the bank.”

But she’s far from the only one, earlier this week rock star Alice Cooper called “cases of transgender” people a “fad” and last week a video of Carlos Santana making transphobic remarks at one of his concerts resurfaced.

There are so many celebrities making anti-LGBTQ+ comments it’s hard to keep up!

At a time when anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric is spreading like wildfire and anti-trans laws are being passed left and right, it is especially disappointing to see all of these celebs that people look up to spreading their prejudices.

Just zip it!

Literally, all these celebs had to do was be quiet, but instead, they spewed their hateful garbage — and now we see you.

Clay Travis, anti-LGBTQ+ commentator and founder of the far-right website OutKick, is in hot water after he posted on X, suggesting that Trump supporters should "do everything you can" to get on the jury and then "refuse to convict."

"If you're a Trump supporter in New York City who is a part of the jury pool, do everything you can to get seated on the jury and then refuse to convict as a matter of principle, dooming the case via hung jury," he wrote. "It's the most patriotic thing you could possibly do."

It turns out Travis is a lawyer and could potentially lose his license for attempting to tamper with the jury. Oops.

Oh Rob Schneider, we remember when he was funny. Cracking jokes on Saturday Night Live or in Adam Sandler films. Now like so many he's just trolling trans people on Twitter. Sigh.

Over the Labor Day weekend, he aimed his "humor" at Dylan Mulvaney. "If you believe there is such a thing as ‘cultural appropriation.’ Then certainly this gentleman is guilty of ‘gender appropriation,’" the "comedian" wrote in his Tweet. Wow, he really thought he did something there, didn't he? Sad.

Silence was always an option, Rob.

Carlos Santana

Last week a video of Carlos Santana making a transphobic speech on stage at one of his concerts resurfaced. “Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man," he said. "That’s it. Whatever you wanna do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m okay with that."

Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper recently lost his brand deal with a makeup company after he said that transgender people are just a "fad." Yes, you read that right, the gender-bending, makeup-wearing rock star who once said that everyone will be bisexual in the future is also a transphobe.

Róisín Murphy

Róisín Murphy had to apologize this week after a Facebook post surfaced that questioned the legitimacy of puberty blockers. "Please don't call me a TERF, please don't keep using that word against women. I beg you! But puberty blockers are f---ed, absolutely desolate, big pharma laughing all the way to the bank," Murphy wrote. "Little mixed-up kids are vulnerable and need to be protected, that's just true."

Dave Chappelle

Dave Chappelle used to be one of the funniest people on the planet, but now he's trying to get laughs by making fun of trans people on his Netflix special The Closer. And then doubling and tripling down on it. On and don't get us started on his anti-Semitic comments. This one really hurt, y'all.

J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling is a TERF, plain and simple. She is constantly spewing transphobic rhetoric and uses her billion of dollars to support anti-trans causes and politicians. Stick to writing about wizards.

Harry Jowsey

Harry Jowsey has said in interviews that trans women are women after confirming that he hooked up with transgender YouTuber Nikita Dragun. But on his podcast he once insulted beauty guru James Charles and used a homophobic slur, saying, Jowsey says, "James Charles is trying to f*** me ... the makeup artist. You don't know who he is? Just some f*****."

Bette Midler

Last year Better Midler took to X (formerly Twitter) to write a transphobic rant. “WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped of our rights over our bodies, our lives and even of our name!" she wrote.“They don’t call us ‘women’ anymore; they call us ‘birthing people’ or ‘menstruators’, and even ‘people with vaginas’!” she continued. “Don’t let them erase you! Every human on earth owes you!” Yeesh! Bette, come on. You know better.

Macy Gray

Last year Macy Gray went on Piers Morgan's show and said, “I will say this, and everyone’s gonna hate me, but as a woman, just because you go change your [body] parts, doesn’t make you a woman, sorry.”
