Sometimes you come across a recipe that’s so wrong it’s right. Rice Krispie Treats With Bourbon Caramel Glaze  by Elizabeth Karmel is one of those recipes. It’s wrong for so many reasons. Our belief is that Rice Krispie Treats are perfection on their own and too many candy embellishments could mean sure-fire-overkill or worse, sudden death (of all your hard work, not you, hopefully).  The candy corn decorations could easily render this recipe inedibly sweet. The icing on the cake of wrongness here isthe addition of caramel bourbon glazeThis is also precisely what gives it its “so wrong it’s right” status.  The recipe re-rights itself with the addition of sea salt but it still gets filed in under Risky but Rocked-it Recipes.

This also leads us to believe, that when caramel is involved, you can do no wrong. Have you ever met a person who does not like caramel?  We thought not.  Even people who tend to favor savory over sweet, can behold in saltier versions of this sugar, water and corn syrup confection. Yes, caramel even goes well with salt. See? It can literally do no wrong. These Caramel Dipped Popovers with Chocolate Mousse are made with...cheddar cheese!

This year, why not thinking out of the box with caramel? Yes, a simple sauce, candy or flan is divine, but behold Platter Talk's gooey-delicious Slow Cooker Sticky Caramel Pumpkin Cake. There are so many things you can do with caramel to warm hearts and tummies this fall besides ordering Caramel Latte's again and again and again.

Pop onto Pinterest and there’s a serious Caramel club going on over there! For example, Dororthy Kern of Crazy For The Crust rocks an all star Slow Cooker Caramel Peanut Hot Fudge Cake that brings tears to our eyes. We know that’s weird but we’re not denying it. See for yourself.

Weeping yet? You will when you find out there are melted Rolo’s on the top and you only need a bowl and spoon to mix the batter. It’s that easy. Can you hear our sobs of joy?

And just when you thought Chocolate Chips couldn’t get any sexier, they sure do when caramel saunters on into the mix. Check out these Caramel Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies by Crunchy Creamy Sweet.

Let’s not forget our gluten-free, vegan and raw friends. They too can get their caramel on this fall.  This Raw Caramel Apple Cheesecake perfectly hits the sweet spot for raw foodies. Nuts, dates, almond butter, apples, maple syrup, lucuma powder and coconut are some of the ingredients that come together to celebrate all things caramel, albeit the most awesome healthy version of it! Kudos, raw foodies!

One of our favorite party favors after a Friday night dinner party is sending quests home with a big bag of this homemade caramel corn to munch on throughout the weekend. Perfect for cozying up in bed and watching tons of tv on a cold night.

And if there’s nothing good on to watch, fear not!  Caramel popcorn makes anything you’re watching infinitely more watchable.
