The Papercraft Prince and Princess
The multidisciplinary artist-couple, Kristin and Davy McGuire create elaborate paper craft installations out of their Bristol, UK studio. Their work is a complex combination of ethereal worlds created out of paper, often turning stories and books into theatrical pieces via video installation, performance, dioramas and animation.
In 2013, their piece “The Paper Architect” won the Samuel Beckett Theater Trust Award. The evocative video installation, made entirely of hand cut paper is a tale about an old man who longs for a life he didn't live. The moody work is part fairytale, part illusion, part otherworldly and all extraordinarily crafty.
