Yolanda Hadid Undergoes Surgery for 'Last Chapter' of Lyme Disease Treatment: 'Remission in Sight'

Yolanda Hadid isn’t giving up in her fight against Lyme disease.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 52, took to Instagram Tuesday to announce she had undergone surgery as she neared the end of her treatment.
“I am seeking, I am striving and I am in it to win it with all of my heart,” she captioned a picture of herself recovering in a hospital bed with two friends at her side. “#LymeDiseaseAwareness #TvamSurgery #LastChapter #SearchingForACure #RemissionInSight.”
Hadid, who was diagnosed in 2012, underwent the TVAM ( Transvascular Autonomic Modulation) procedure, in which a catheter is inserted into the jugular vein. A balloon is inflated so it stretch the vein, in doing so transferring energy to the nerve fibers along the outside of the vein. The treatment aims to relieve patients of Lyme disease symptoms, including fatigue, cognitive function, energy levels, bladder and bowel function.
The surgery came a few days after Hadid revealed she had consulted with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, lead clinician at the Sophia Health Institute in Woodinville, Wash., and the founder and chairman of the Institute for Neurobiology in Germany and Switzerland.

The star is mother to daughters Gigi, 21, and Bella, 19, as well as son Anwar, 17, whom she shares with her ex-husband Mohamed Hadid. Last year, she revealed Bella and Anwar have also battled Lyme disease.
Despite her ongoing struggles, Hadid is moving forward with her life. After announcing in December she was divorcing her second husband David Foster, the reality star has since returned to modeling and is set to release a memoir about her struggles with Lyme disease next year.
