Lady Gaga’s win for Best Actress in a Limited Series was one of the most talked about moments during the 2016 Golden Globes. And while we may never know the full story behind that instant classic Leonardo DiCaprio reaction, we do have some answers.

Perhaps you heard an audience member shout, “Werk Gaga!” as She Who Lives for the Applause was starting her acceptance speech. It was, in fact, Laverne Cox.

For those unfamiliar with the pure delight that is Laverne Cox as an audience member at an awards show, you may remember her fully living during Beyoncé’s 2014 MTV VMA performance:

Lady Gaga, who looked truly shocked to have won, delivered an emotional speech referencing Cher’s Oscar winning turn in Moonstruck. Gaga also thanked her family and Ryan Murphy, who created and wrote AHS’s The Countess for Gaga. One person she didn’t thank, however, was her fiancé Taylor Kinney, an omission she later corrected on Instagram.

“Thank you Taylor for being right there for me the whole way through,” she wrote.
