Batters don't like it when pitchers throw at them. It's been the kerosene under the fire of many a baseball beef, like the one that led to Rougned Odor's Mike Tyson impersonation at the expense of Jose Bautista. It's also what ignited an all-out brawl between the Yankees and Tigers this afternoon. New York reliever Tommy Kahnle threw at Detroit star Miguel Cabrera, which led to his immediate ejection-along with his manager, Joe Girardi. Before Aroldis Chapman could get out to the mound to throw the next pitch, however, Cabrera and Yanks catcher Austin Romine got into it in a big way. Then came the haymakers and cleared benches:

As you might expect, Cabrera and Romine were also told in no uncertain terms that it was shower time. Apparently, the Yankees' Gary Sanchez also played a major role in the brawl-according to Delia Enriquez of Bronx Pinstripes via Bleacher Report, he "threw punches"-and could also earn a suspension. That's bad news for the Yankees, who are still chasing a playoff spot. Bleacher Report adds Sanchez had a role in kicking off this feud, as Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer beamed him after he jacked a homer off the Tigers pitcher in the fourth inning. No wonder he got a little worked up later on.
