Do not cross Whoopi Goldberg! On Wednesday, Aug. 3, The View vet went on a scathing Twitter rant in response to a story that claimed Goldberg was trying to either cut co-host Paula Faris from the cast or have her role reduced. According to the Daily Mail, Faris “is adamant that the network bowed to pressure from Whoopi to get rid of [her] as part of her negotiations to return for Season 20.” The story also claimed that Faris flipped out after being told the news, calling the decision “a bunch of bull” and “Whoopi’s doing.” According to Goldberg, however, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“Contrary to what u might read in the [sic] I do NOT run ABC nor do I own or produce, not involved in hiring4 the View so don’t send ur resumes,” Goldberg began. “I’m not responsible 4 firing or moving people around or negotiating my coworkers contracts. I LIKE having a gig and as much as I’d like to Rule the entire universe, I have enough to do in my life than to take mean girl pleasure at some one else WRONGLY perceived change.”

She then shifted her focus to the publication directly. “Also daily mail knowing that people talk A lot do you honestly think I would talk or act in such a way that would give u ANY ability to know Anything I think??” she asked. “No daily mail I woulnd’t, so if your going to continue to accuse me of doing this kind of thing could make something Someone my age would do. For goodness sake the only botch fest is the one in talks minds.” The 60-year-old Sister Act alum then concluded, “no fight here just clearing up an untruth.”

Meanwhile, E! News has reported that, contrary to the Daily Mail claims, Faris will indeed be back. “Paula is a great addition to the team, and she absolutely will be back as a co-host next season,” an insider said.

But while it seems that Faris will be staying on, just hours after Goldberg posted her tirade, The View announced another player in the mix as Sara Haines will be joining its panel. Haines is no stranger to the show, having guest-hosted its hot topics table more than 30 times. Previously, she held a post as an ABC News correspondent and the pop news anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America. As of now, she’ll sit onstage with Goldberg, Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Raven-Symoné, and Paula Faris. Jedediah Bila and Sunny Hostin are also tapped for frequent appearances throughout the season.

“We have such a smart, funny, and fearless group of women who bring unparalleled passion and opinions to the hot topics table every single day,” said The View’s executive producer Candi Carter. “We have an exciting Season 20 planned and plenty of surprises in store.” (She did not comment on Goldberg’s Twitter tirade as of yet.)

In some ways, departures and new arrivals in The Views co-host lineup are to be expected, as the show has seen a series of comings and goings over the past several seasons — the most recent departure being Michelle Collins … and not Paula Faris.
