So Many Questions: People making 50K/year are supposed to pay a quarter to a third of their income in taxes (approximately - FICA, federal, state), another third on housing, save at least 10 percent for retirement (probably not enough), and also handle a car loan to be able to get to work, save for kids' education, maybe help support aging parents, buy food and clothes, and accumulate an emergency fund. Oh, and almost forgot - we're also supposed to be able to handle $10,000+ per person per year in health insurance and care expenses. NOT POSSIBLE.
