Tori Spelling Sends Her Support to ‘Brave’ Shannen Doherty Amid Cancer Battle: ‘I Admire Her So Much’

Tori Spelling has expressed her support for her former Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Shannen Doherty as she continues her fight with cancer.

Spelling, who starred opposite Doherty, 45, in the ’90s drama series, recently sent heartfelt well wishes to the actress, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2015.

“I haven’t personally seen her, but I obviously have followed her fight,” Spelling told E! News. “It’s been amazing how she’s done it through social media. I give her props for that. I think she’s standing up for a lot of women everywhere that are fighting that battle.”

“She’s doing a brave and wonderful job, and we obviously support her. We’ve all been talking and supporting her from afar,” Spelling, 43, added. “It’s really hard to know what to do when someone’s going through that — if they want people there or not there. But I think she’s very brave and I admire her so much.”

The mother of four, who is expecting her fifth child with husband Dean McDermott, isn’t the first costar of Doherty’s to follow her journey and share their public support for the actress. In July, former cast mate Jason Priestly told Entertainment Tonight of Doherty’s decision to shave her head: “What she did the other day, shaving her head and posting the pictures and everything, that was incredibly brave.”

Ian Ziering, another of her former costars, previously told E! recently that he has reached out to Doherty: “I told her that I’m sure she’ll do fine. If she can handle the Hollywood Foreign Press, cancer’s not really going to be a problem.”

Doherty has been open about her battle with breast cancer and frequently documents her journey on social media, including a recent post-chemo workout video and photos of undergoing treatment.

On Oct. 28, Doherty will open up to Chelsea Handler on Netflix’s Chelsea about her battle with cancer in her first late night interview since being diagnosed.
