Toby Willis, one of the stars of the now-canceled TLC reality series The Willis Clan, has been arraigned on four counts of child rape after a grand jury heard his case, according to The Tennessean. Willis, 46, was arrested in Kentucky on Sept. 9, 2016, on suspicion that he raped a girl between the ages of 9 and 12 about 12 years ago. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his trial is set to begin July 18.
Willis is in a Ashland City-based country-folk band with his wife, Brenda, and their 12 children - the family rose to fame after competing on season nine of America's Got Talent.
The TLC series about the family band ran for two seasons, but the network announced days after Willis’s arrest that the show would not be renewed for a third season. A network spokesperson told The Tennessean that the decision to cancel the show had been made before Willis’s arrest.
