Tim McGraw Recalls the Sweet Way He Proposed to Faith Hill

His Next Thirty Years… will be with her. In an adorable new Facebook video marking his 19th wedding anniversary, a reminiscent Tim McGraw remembered exactly how he got Faith Hill to marry him nearly two decades ago.
Hill first noted their special day via Facebook on Tuesday, Oct. 6. “Celebrating 19 years today,” the “Breathe” singer, 48, captioned a glam shot with the “Highway Don’t Care” crooner. “Happy Anniversary Tim McGraw.”

Her equally enamored hubby, 48, echoed her sentiments shortly after. “Happy anniversary to the best person I will ever know Faith Hill,” McGraw gushed on Facebook, alongside a clip recorded this past June at the Taste of Country Festival in Grand Junction, Colo.
In the video, McGraw — cowboy hat included, of course — recalled exactly how he proposed to his world-famous wife.
“We were in the dressing room, here, June 26, 1996,” the father of three says in the clip. “And it was raining and stuff and we’d been on tour for a while together, and I joked around with her about getting married. And so I said… I looked at her, grabbed her by the hand, and dropped forward [on my knees] onstage. She had already done her show. And I said, ‘I’m really serious. I want you to marry me.’”

According to McGraw, Hill laughed in response. “She said, 'We’re at a country music festival in a trailer house, and you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I said, 'Yeah.’ So I went onstage.”
While McGraw was performing, Hill had other plans of her own. “I had in my dressing room… this foldout case that had a mirror in it that was my dressing armoire,” McGraw recalled. “I still have it to this day. When I came back offstage, [I saw] a Sharpie with lipstick kisses all over it, saying, 'Yes! I’m gonna be your wife.’ It had, 'I love you’ with big lipstick kisses. And this is the place right here.”

The couple, who now reside in Nashville, married on Oct. 6, 1996, and have been so in love ever since. This past April, the dynamic country duo walked the red carpet of the Time 100 Gala with their gorgeous teen daughters, Gracie, 18, Maggie, 17, and Audrey, 13.
