The Owner of the Gigolo Agency That Used to Employ Lea Michele’s Ex-Boyfriend Insists He’s Not a Bad Guy... Even If He Did Ghost Her

In a statement sent to Yahoo, Garren James, founder and CEO of Cowboys4Angels, the “male companionship” agency which employed Matthew Paetz before he began dating Lea Michele, is sticking up for the man who used to be one of his top employees.

“I am personally upset that Matthew Paetz is getting a bad rap for his recent break up with Lea Michele,” James says in the statement. “The time he worked with Cowboys4Angels, he received amazing reviews and was one of our top requested men.”

It has been reported that Paetz broke up with Michele earlier this month without warning and that he simply stopped speaking to her.

The couple met in April 2014 on the set of the music video for her song “On My Way.” At the time, it was reported that Paetz worked as a male escort under the name “Christian.” Now his former employer is going to bat for him.

“The friends of Lea are saying he was just some opportunist, when in fact he met her on a video shoot, and the two fell in love.” James says. “He left the Cowboys4Angels agency immediately after meeting her. He did this even though he was one of the top earners for the company.”

“Christian”’s profile was pulled from Cowboys4Angles shortly after Paetz and Michele went public (you can see a screenshot here), but it’s pretty clear he was good at his job: one hour with Christian cost you $350, a weekend was $6,000, and the rate for a full week was $17,500.

“The ultimate goal for a male companion is to just bring a smile to a woman’s face, and Matthew did that on every appointment,” James writes. “He even started helping myself train new men for my company. Matthew will always have a spot on the team if he decides to come back and work for the agency.”

Well, seeing that he’s no longer hitching a ride on the S.S. Lea Michele Express, he may be taking James up on that offer very soon.
