Teen James Corden Interviewing Meat Loaf Is Everything

Prepare yourself for the cutest thing you’ll see all day: a teenage James Corden interviewing Meat Loaf. In 1995 the Late Late Show host, then 16, sat down with the rockstar for an exclusive interview for BBC1’s Good Morning With Anne and Nick. This past Monday, in honor of the 38-year-old’s birthday, the BBC shared the throwback footage that begins with James in the studio wearing a white button-down shirt and a gray tweed vest.

The clip then cuts to the teen outside of a building, confirming with a doorman that he’s in the right place to meet with the singer. “Do you like marmalade, by any chance?” Meat Loaf asks the aspiring journalist. “Hi, this is James, right here, and I’m Meat Loaf, and we’re doing this English breakfast show, and it’s, like, really cool.”

Sitting at a table with the music legend, James asks Meat Loaf about his latest video, how he feels about promoting his tour, and whether he thinks he’ll ever go back to acting. The pair appears to hit it off, and Meat Loaf leaves James with some parting advice: “The one thing you’ve gotta do is that you need to always do the best you can do, no matter what the given situation, no matter what comes up against you. You do the best you can do and you never give up. Never quit.”

Check out the video to see a young James take on a rock ’n’ roll interview, and tune in to The Insider With Yahoo on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news.
