Taylor Swift is absolutely one of those people who grew up with supportive parents who said things like, “Everyone makes mistakes — just make sure you learn something from them.” Which is why, two months after getting into a Twitter war with Nicki Minaj, she says she learned something: Don’t just tweet, send a text. (In all fairness, not all lessons were created equal.)

Speaking to NME, Swift says she doesn’t want to discuss the fight, which began when Minaj took on MTV for a history of racial discrimination in VMA nominations. She does say, though, what she learned:

“I don’t want to talk about it,” she said. “But I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone’s management, I get their number and I text them. It’s an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015.”
