Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal in All 50 States, Celebrities React

In a historic decision Friday morning, the Supreme Court struck down same-sex marriage bans across the country, ruling once and for all that marriage is a constitutional right for all American citizens, gay or straight. The case was decided in a 5-4 vote, with Justice Anthony Kenndy writing the majority opinion, joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Stephen Breyer, and Sonia Sotomayor. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas each wrote separate decisions of dissent.

Shortly after the decision was announced, President Obama tweeted his support:
