Stephen Colbert: Donald Trump running for president is biggest April Fools' Day prank

Stephen Colbert is no fan of April Fools’ Day, or Donald Trump’s presidential aspirations.

On Friday night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host explained why he has such an issue with the national day of pranks, citing Trump’s status as Republican frontrunner as the best-worst one of all.

“The biggest April Fools’ Day prank, I have to admit, is actually pretty funny: Donald Trump is still running for president,” Colbert said as the crowd cheered. “You got us! You got us! D’oh! You still have about 20 minutes left [in the day], Mr. Trump, to jump out from behind something. Or off something.”

Colbert, who had Trump on his show earlier this year via telephone ( Trump was booed by the Colbert audience), spent a good portion of his week hitting back at the former reality television host and his campaign. On Wednesday night’s show, Colbert interviewed a cartoon version of Trump and asked the character about the assault charges filed against Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski. Earlier this year, Colbert mocked Trump for talking about his penis size during a debate and took the candidate to task for now disavowing the KKK when given the chance.
