What took so long?

Snoop Dogg has announced the launch of Leafs by Snoop, a line of pot products being sold in Colorado dispensaries. The offerings — which are available today to patients and other partakers — include flower (eight strains!), concentrates, and edibles.

The rapper, a longtime user and supporter of the ganja, celebrated his new business in a statement that he may or may not have issued while high.

“It’s a true blessing that I can share the products I love so much with y’all today,” he said. “It’s all hand-picked by yours truly so you know it’s the hottest product out there. It’s the real deal and you gotta get out to Colorado to try it first!”

The press release goes on to say that Snoop, 44, “personally selected all Leafs by Snoop strains for their aroma, taste, effect, and bud structure.” We bet he did.

Some of the edibles include couverture chocolate bars made with cannabis oil, peanut butter treats, gummies, drops, and fruit chews.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has long been a cannabis advocate. Cameron Diaz has said that she bought weed from the laid-back singer when they were high schoolers in Long Beach, California. He later launched his career rapping on Dr. Dre’s album The Chronic. He has been open about his love of pot (despite briefly quitting back in 2002), and has had several drug-related run-ins with law enforcement over the years, including earlier in 2015 when he was briefly detained in Sweden on suspicion of illegal drug use. (He was not charged that time, but he has been convicted on drug charges before.)

This isn’t the first time Snoop’s name has been attached to pot products. He sells vaporizers, grinders, and other goodies in his Snoopermarket. He also launched a cannabis lifestyle website — think Goop for stoners — called Merry Jane in September.

Snoop isn’t the only celebrity hoping to capitalize on the legalization of marijuana. Nick Lachey — yes, Jessica Simpson’s ex — is an investor in an Ohio marijuana grow center. However, last week that state voted down the legalization of recreational and medical marijuana.
