Selena Gomez Admits She and Miley Cyrus Once Liked the Same Boy, Confirms She’s ‘So Done’ With Justin Bieber

Selena Gomez is 23 going on “40” (her number, not ours). The former Disney star-turned-pop-princess-turned-aspiring “one to be taken seriously” actress is used to the public scrutiny of her personal life, but that still doesn’t mean she likes it. In between escaping Madison Square Garden for a Chili’s run and taking to the stage in a sequined jumpsuit, the “Come and Get It” songstress sat down with W magazine and waxed poetic on her alleged feud with Miley Cyrus and her relationship with Justin Bieber. (Spoiler alert: It’s over.)
Cyrus and Gomez seem so different these days that it’s hard to imagine they ever had the same taste in men, but, according to Gomez, they did. “We never feuded,” Gomez insisted. “We both liked the same guy [that would be none other than Nick Jonas] when we were 16. It was just a Hilary Duff-Lindsay Lohan thing: ‘Oh my God, we like the same boy!’” she recalled.

Back in September, Gomez called her relationship with Jonas “puppy love.” Since the couple’s teen romance, Jonas has gone on to date Samantha Barks, Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, and mayyyybe Kate Hudson.
Miley and Selena’s spat is far behind them now, however. “We are completely settled in our own lives,” she explained. (We’re not sure we’d call Miley “completely settled,” but we understand her point.) So they’re not at each other’s throats, but are they friends?

“Obviously, she wouldn’t want to be doing what I’m doing, and I wouldn’t want to be doing what she’s doing,” Gomez noted. “But I’m a fan of her music — I don’t know if she’d say the same about me.”
One thing the two stars have had in common is their tendency to circle back to the same boys — Liam Hemsworth for Miley and Justin Bieber for Selena. As they’ve dated, broken up, and gotten back together (or maybe gotten back together?) with their respective beaus, the world has watched intently.
“At first I didn’t care,” Gomez said of the constant scrutiny of her personal life. “To me it was: I’m 18, I have a boyfriend, we look cute together, we like that.” Her sentiments changed, however, when they maybe didn’t look so cute together. “Then I got my heart broken and I cared. Because people had no idea what was going on, but everywhere it was a million different things,” she revealed. After a pause, she added, “I was kind of in a corner, banging my head against the wall. I didn’t know where to go.”

It wasn’t exactly a clean break, though. After (nearly) countless reunions, suggestive Instagram posts, and one entire Bieber album arguably created to try to win Gomez back, she says it’s really over. “I’m so exhausted,” she admitted. “I honestly am so done. I care about his health and well-being. But I can’t do it anymore.”
