‘Scary Spice’ Mel B Gives the Inside Scoop on ‘Wannabe’
You guys, this week marks the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” debut in the United States. Former “Scary Spice” Mel B sat down with the girls of The Real and spilled some insider scoop about the hit song.
Mel said it was “recorded and written in about less than 10 minutes.” She also discussed the inspiration behind it, saying, “We were listening to an old Shaggy reggae song and were like, ‘Oh my God, we have to do something annoying like that song.’” Well, we wouldn’t say “Wannabe” is annoying. The catchy song is now a classic!
Mel was also asked the question that’s on everyone’s mind: Is there gonna be a Spice Girls reunion? She said that “trying to get everybody’s schedule on the same kind of vibe is more or less impossible, but I’m still hoping something’s going to happen because I think we have to celebrate.” Please, Posh, Sporty, Baby, and Ginger, give the fans what they really, really want and work with Scary to make this reunion happen!
