Sarah Jessica Parker Is So Over Everyone Thinking She’s Carrie Bradshaw

Sarah Jessica Parker is not Carrie Bradshaw. The former Sex and the City star opened up to the Wall Street Journal Magazine about her character on the hit HBO show saying they aren’t as similar as people would like to think.

“People probably don’t realize that Carrie Bradshaw was radically different from who I was, who I continue to be,” she told the mag. “I think that sometimes because we look alike and live in the same city and haunt the same neighborhoods, that it was sort of like I was playing in the sandbox, when in truth it took real work every day to be her, to understand her, to not judge her."

The 50-year-old actress isn’t the only one dishing on the series. SJP’s co-star, Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes on SATC, recently chatted with IMDB Asks and revealed that the show’s writers pulled many of the storylines from their real-life situations.

"They had a rule in the writing that nothing can be written that didn’t literally happen to someone in the writer’s room or someone they knew first hand. It couldn’t be my father’s brother’s sister’s shoe repair guy heard once that you know,” she explained. “So that the outlandish physical, sexual things that happened … they really did happen."
