Rugrats revival still a possibility, says Nickelodeon VP

The popular Nickelodeon shows Legends of the Hidden Temple, Hey Arnold!, and Rocko's Modern Life are returning to the small screen as TV movies, and Double Dare will back in the form of an anniversary special. Could this mean that Rugrats is also making a comeback?

It's possible, according to Nickelodeon's senior vice president of original movies. During the Hidden Temple panel at New York Comic Con, Michael Sammaciccia (who also serves as an executive producer on the TV movie) said Rugrats was one of many fan-favorite franchises being considered for a revival.

"What's happening with [Legends of the Hidden Temple] is that it's allowing Nickelodeon to look at the rich library they have, and not just Rugrats," Sammaciccia said, in response to a fan question. "All of them are being considered."

If a Rugrats revival — or TV movie — were to happen, the original creators Paul Germain, Arlene Klasky, and Gabor Csupo might be on board to return, though they have differing opinions on what a revival could look like.

New York Comic Con continues through Sunday.
