Reese Witherspoon Had the Mother of All Weekends

Reese Witherspoon‘s kids certainly are growing up.

On Sunday, the actress celebrated her son Tennessee’s fourth birthday a few days early, in a totally awesome way. (Technically, Reese’s son with her agent husband Jim Toth is 3 until Sept. 27.)

Tennessee was feted with an intricate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cake that managed to combine candy, lots of icing, and toys. It’s the kind of stuff that fills a 4-year-old’s dreams.

Witherspoon’s eldest child, Ava, 17, often referred to as her mom’s lookalike, passed a very different milestone three days earlier.

The teenager, Witherspoon’s daughter with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, confidently walked the red carpet solo for the first time at a Hollywood dinner launching Chanel’s No. 5 L’Eau fragrance. She was dressed in a Chanel top and skirt and carried a Chanel bag.

Last year, Witherspoon spoke about the gap in the ages of her children, including that of her son Deacon Phillippe, 12.

“It’s interesting,” she told Today. “Two different things are happening all the time.”

What helps, she explained, is that the siblings get along.

“It’s kind of great because… my older kids are just so in love with their baby brother and help out so much. It’s kind of like having this big extended family,” she said. “We always talk about in our house, the more people that love you, the better your life is. So, I love it.”

Ava proved the point, posting a sweet pic of her youngest brother sipping a juice box in honor of his birthday.

happy early birthday to this super preschooler going on teenager. ????I love you, dude.
