Prince George's 3rd Birthday Photos Will Make You Feel All the Things

From Cosmopolitan

In this week's proof that time flies, Prince George turns 3 years old today. Yes, it's been three whole years since the swaddled newborn emerged from the hospital with his parents. Kensington Palace has released new photographs to mark the birthday boy's latest milestone - and they are so precious my heart has melted all over my keyboard.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share four new photographs of Prince George to mark his third birthday," the palace posted on Instagram. "They were taken by photographer Matt Porteous at their home in Norfolk in mid-July."

"A spokesman for Kensington Palace said: 'The Duke and Duchess hope that people will enjoy seeing these new photographs. They would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received as Prince George celebrates his third birthday.'"

According to another Instagram post, "Photographer Matt Porteous said: 'I really enjoyed the opportunity to take these photographs of Prince George. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. I'm honoured that they have decided to share these images with the public to mark his third birthday.'"

George was photographed hanging out on a swing, on which the names of his parents, William and Catherine, have been carved.

Porteous also captured the tiny prince, who Uncle Harry says looks like a young Winston Churchill, sitting on a blanket with his dog Lupo. For the shoot, George wore shorts and stripes - a light blue striped T-shirt and a cream-colored sweater with black stripes and a whale on it. (It's nice to see George in slightly less ancient-looking clothing than usual.)

It's been a big week for the Cambridges: Kate's younger sister Pippa got engaged last weekend too, and now there's George's birthday to celebrate.

Here's a look back at George through the years (all three):
