NYPD Officers Rallied for Colin Kaepernick
NYPD officers gathered in Brooklyn on Saturday in support of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. In the group of current and retired officers was famed whistleblower Detective Frank Serpico, who was immortalized by Al Pacino in the classic 1973 Sidney Lumet film. Wearing black t-shirts bearing the the phrase "#imwithkap," the officers rallied to support Kaeprnick, who, after attracting widespread praise and condemnation last season for refusing to stand during the national anthem in protest of police violence, opted out of his 49ers contract in March and has yet to be signed by another team.
"He's trying to hold up this government, up to our founding fathers," Serpico told the Associated Press.

Sergeant Edwin Raymond organized the protest, which drew around 80 officers. "As members of law enforcement, we can confirm that the issues he is saying exist in policing, and throughout the criminal justice system, indeed exist," said Sergeant Raymond. "They said he disrespected law enforcement. Well, I'm law enforcement, and he didn't disrespect me."
Meanwhile, the Atlanta NAACP is calling for a boycott of the NFL until Kaepernick is signed to a team.
