Zooey Deschanel has been kept so busy filming the show that earned her an Emmy nomination, that the New Girl star hasn't found a time to pen an acceptance speech yet.
"We work crazy hours so I keep putting off writing something. I'm sure I'll throw something together. There are so many amazing people in the category, I feel like I have a one in seven chance," she humbly tells Theinsider.com. Lena Dunham (Girls), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), and Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly) are also on the ballot in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
All eyes will be fixated when the adorkable dresser walks the red carpet on Sunday, but she's resistant to reveal details on her gown. She does admit that she's incorporated items from her personal wardrobe on New Girl and sometimes her character Jess' fashion selections will inspire her to buy the same outfit for herself.
On season one of New Girl, Jess was overcoming a breakup. On its sophomore year, Jess loses her teaching job. "It affects her life pretty deeply," she confesses. "[She] considers teaching to be her calling. It's a blow to her." The show will document her journey to find a new job and dabble in different professions.
Audiences will be introduced to Jess' parents for the first time on the series' Thanksgiving episode. Zooey credits the casting of Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner for those roles as "perfect" and "can't wait to start shooting with them."
New Girl, with two all-new episodes premiering Tuesday, September 25 on FOX, isn't the only place to see Zooey. She'll be a guest star on the Sunday, September 30 episode of The Simpsons, for which she also will lend her musical talent.
