Prince Update: Sheriff Got Calls About Suspicious Vehicles, Fire Alarms, Drugs

The Carver County, Minnesota, sheriff’s office has released more details about the dozens of phone calls for service it received for the singer’s Paisley Park home over the past five years, providing further insight into law enforcement’s involvement with Paisley Park in the lead up to the “Purple Rain ” musician’s April 21 death at age 57.

The log notes for the calls range from the mundane to the potentially scandalous but unsubstantiated. A number of them involve suspicious vehicles and fire alarms at the compound. A tiny few are more eyebrow-raising, though they ultimately amounted to nothing.

One call, from April 2011, involved a woman who claimed that she was “concerned about Prince’s cocaine habits.” The woman, who had a phone number from Germany, claimed that the singer told her the previous year “that he cannot control his habit & she was advised to report it.”

The incident was closed, with the Sheriff’s Office noting that the information was a year old and that the caller did not specify that Prince was in immediate danger.

Another call, made on the day of Prince’s death, came from a woman who claimed that she had a 17-year-old son with the musician, and that she wanted the child to attend Prince’s funeral service. The incident was closed after a message was left for the Paisley Park staff.

According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, 46 calls for service at Paisley Park were made, though only four triggered the office’s report-writing requirements.
