Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera is missing. The 43-year-old was aboard a private jet with six others that took off in Monterrey, Mexico in the early hours of Sunday, Dec. 9 -- with aviation authorities losing contact with the aircraft ten minutes after takeoff, the Associated Press reports.
Rivera and her fellow passengers and crew were expected to land in the Mexican city of Toluca (near Mexico City) around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning; a search, complete with helicopters, was launched in the area early Sunday.
Born and raised in Long Beach, Calif. Rivera was in the northern city of Monterrey for a concert; she's popular for her renditions of regional Mexican music known as nortena and banda.
