Donald Trump Has Only Spent $1.9 Million of His Own Money on Presidential Bid
Donald Trump has only spent around $1.9 million of his own money since launching his presidential bid, the Manhattan developer announced in a statement Thursday.
According to the GOP frontrunner’s third quarter Federal Election Commission filing, Trump’s campaign raised $3.9 million between July 1 and Sept. 30 and spent about $5.5 million.
The campaign reported having $254,772 in cash on hand.

“While our original budget was substantially higher than the amount spent, good business practices and even better ideas and policy have made it unnecessary to have spent a larger sum,” Trump said in the statement. “To be number one in every poll, both state and national, and to have spent the least amount of dollars of any serious candidate is a testament to what I can do for America.”
His campaign goes on to say: “Mr. Trump is self-funding his campaign; however there were 73,942 unsolicited donations during this time period with an average contribution of $50.46. The Trump Campaign will continue to accept small dollar donations as people across the country proudly invest in Mr. Trump’s vision to Make America Great Again.”
Jeb Bush’s campaign raised about $13.4 million during the same period, outpacing both Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, but fell short of Ben Carson’s $20 million.
