How did Dr. Thredson become Bloody Face? Mommy issues!
This week's American Horror Story: Asylum showed the maniacal serial killer's origins, which were first hinted at by the devil. (Wow, not a sentence we ever thought we'd have to write.) Dr. Thredson (Zachary Quinto) was abandoned by his mother as a child. He grew up in the system, where they would never hug children because that would form a connection.
It was his lack of human contact that ultimately drove him over the edge. During med school, he made first contact with a woman — a cadaver — the same age as his mother and realized feeling skin-to-skin contact sated him. But dead skin just wasn't cutting it (ha!), so he decided to remove the skin off live women. Obviously.
However, now that Lana (Sarah Paulson) is in his special basement, Thredson can feel live skin. She's even the same age as his mother when she abandoned him, which was part of the reason he chose Lana. The other part was that she understood Bloody Face, which he discovered as she was trying to write about the case. But when Lana tries to escape, Thredson is close to skinning her as well. But she knows what makes him tick and calls him her baby as he succumbs to his need and suckles from his "mother's" teat. No joke.
Unfortunately, it seems Thredson is still up to his old tricks in present day. A man sounding like an elder Thredson calls the police to report the copy cats he left for dead in Briarcliff. The police find the three now-dead imposters and the deceased Leo (Adam Levine). But where's Teresa (Jenna Dewan-Tatum)? She's his next victim!
But that was only one of American Horror Story's big reveals this week. Here are the four others:
3. Shelley is finally dead. The Monsignor was called to give last rites for a random inflicted woman, only to discover it was one of Briarcliff's charges, which he quickly dispatched using his own rosary. Hail Mary!
4. Arden is creating a new race! Thanks to the Monsignor, former tuberculosis specialist Dr. Arden got to keep doing his experiments to create an immune booster when Briarcliff turned into an insane asylum. The booster is a mixture of syphilis and tuberculosis that is designed to fortify the United States' population in case of a nuclear attack. Monsignor would take Arden down after discovering the truth, except then everyone would get screwed. The only option was to send away their common enemy Jude because she could uncover the truth.
