Earlier this year, Christina Aguilera handled a blast from her past rather poorly on The Voice. First she didn't recognize contestant Tony Lucca and then she spent the rest of the season beating him down. But when faced with a similar situation at today's X Factor auditions, Britney Spears couldn't have reacted more differently.
According to People.com, a male contestant from Britney's past auditioned in San Francisco today and "Britney recognized him straight away," an on-set source says. "I know him," Britney told Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Demo Lovato. "We did a duet together 10 years ago."
The song is rumored to be I Will Still Love You, making singer Don Philip that contestant in question. From there, the audition got super emotional when Don announced he was gay. "At the time I didn't think I was worthy," he told Britney. "I didn't think you thought it was okay that I am gay."
To which Britney replied, "I think it is fine you are gay," which only made him more emotional and Britney more invested in calming him down. This, paired with some leaked audition audio only furthers my belief that Britney will make a stellar mentor and I will be eating much crow come The X Factor season two debut in September.
