Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Ex Blasts Whitney Houston Song During Arrest

The saga of Bobbi Kristina Brown and her adopted brother just got to another level of weird. On November 28 – the same day Whitney Houston’s 19-year-old daughter crashed her car after she drove down an embankment – Nick Gordon was arrested for going 82 mph in a 35 mph zone … while blasting the late singer’s 1992 classic “I Will Always Love You.” Because nothing inspires speeding like an easy-listening ballad.

In a video (click here to watch) of Gordon’s arrest taken from the dash of a police cruiser in Alpharetta, Georgia, the cop – who is also blaring Maroon 5’s “One More Night” in his own car – approaches Gordon’s Camaro after pulling him over in a parking lot. Once the 22-year-old opens the driver’s side door, Houston’s iconic song can be heard playing in his car at full volume. As the arresting officer puts Gordon in cuffs, he asks, “Is this your mom’s car?” presumably because of his song choice, but it is odd considering Houston was his adopted mother. The officer clearly can’t ignore the music as he’s conversing with Gordon, adding with a laugh, “Jamming to Whitney Houston, huh?” Gordon responded by telling him that he had a 9mm gun in his glove box.

Aside from the comment about his 9mm, Gordon appeared to be very cooperative in the video, if not extremely polite to the police officer. And the entire exchange between the two is very lighthearted – at one point, the cop even pulls up Gordon’s pants for him! And after the officer tells Gordon he’s going to bring him over to his cruiser, Gordon asks, “Can I sit in it? It’s cold.” “Yeah, I’ll put you in,” says the officer. “Thank you!” replies Gordon. But when informed he has to go to jail for reckless driving, Gordon innocently asks, “Is there any way I cannot go to jail?” (Hey, you can’t blame the guy for trying!)

Ironically, Bobbi Kristina got into an accident on that same day, and Houston was clearly on her mind as well. After she crashed her car into a tree, which left her uninjured, the teen tweeted that her mother was her “personal guardian angel” who kept her safe from harm. “Not a scratch,” she added.

Later that day, it was reported that Bobbi Kristina and Gordon had called off their engagement – even though they never officially confirmed it – and that everyone will be able to watch the drama unfold on the Houston family's upcoming Lifetime reality show.

Perhaps that’s why Gordon was driving around listening to the tearjerker?
