New Kanye West Mural Proves Kanye Is the Most Important Living Artist in the World After All

Okay, maybe not exactly — but it does prove that people are fascinated enough with the egomaniac that someone dedicated more than 20 feet of wall space to a giant mural of him making out with himself. That someone was Australian artist Scott Marsh, who created the painting on the side of Zigi’s Wine and Cheese Bar in Sydney, Australia.

Marsh didn’t come up with the clever image, however. It was based on a viral Photoshopped meme of the rapper kissing his wife, Kim Kardashian … with his head pasted onto her body.

West is no stranger to controversy, and his wild rants have become almost commonplace. Most recently, he declared himself “more influential than any other human being” during a meltdown backstage at Saturday Night Live, and referred to himself as “the most important living artist” in a Twitter tirade about the Grammys.

“No one can love Kanye quite like Kanye,” Marsh explained in a Facebook post on March 19. He also posted the artwork on his Instagram account, asking, “Who do you love as much as #Kanyeloveskanye ???” (Let’s all think about that for a minute, because it’s actually a pretty insightful existential question.)

But Kanye wasn’t the only member of the West monarchy to be, umm, “honored” with a mural. On March 13, a 30-foot-tall image of Kim’s recent nude selfie appeared on the side of a digital printing shop in Melbourne. (In case you missed it, Kim posted a completely naked pic of herself standing in the bathroom with two thin black bars covering her NSFW parts — not that this edit made the image particularly SFW.)

“I instantly felt the need to paint it 30 feet high,” artist Lush Sux (real name Mark Walls) told Us Weekly of his creation. “Perhaps I’m a little bit of an attention seeker, much like Kim.”

Kim’s selfie got her attention all right, as celebs chimed in with their opinions about her naked pic. Demi Lovato, Kylie Jenner, Abigail Breslin, and Bella Thorne were among those who supported her move, while Pink, Chloë Grace Moretz, Bette Middler, Piers Morgan (random!), and Miley Cyrus did not approve. Note to self: If Miley doesn’t approve of something you do, it might be time to take a good, long look in the mirror … with your clothes on.

The work of art depicting the mother of two didn’t survive long, however. “It was vandalized only eight hours after completion,” Lush Sux revealed. Indeed, shortly after it was completed, someone spray-painted the word “slut” across its nether region. ‘It’s just another painting in a long line of paintings I have completed that seem to get people all frazzled,” he added.

You know who else might be frazzled? Kanye West. His mural was only 20 feet high.
