NBA Star Dwyane Wade's Cousin Killed in Chicago Crossfire: 'Another Act of Senseless Gun Violence'

Two Brothers Charged with Alleged Murder of Dwyane Wade's Cousin Nykea Aldridge

NBA star Dwyane Wade's cousin was killed in a crossfire in Chicago on Friday afternoon.

Wade confirmed the news himself on Twitter while CNN reports that his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, died while pushing a stroller down a South Side Chicago street when several men started shooting at each other.

Taking to Twitter following the event Wade wrote: "My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough."

CNN reports that one of the bullets hit Aldridge in the head while another struck her in an arm. She died around 45 minutes after the shooting at a hospital.

Aldridge's aunt told ABC7 that she was on her way to an elementary school when she was shot.

Chicago police spokeswoman Michelle Tannehill said two suspects were in custody for the shooting.
