Following Justin Bieber's Instagram threat to make his account private if Beliebers didn't stop attacking his new flame, 17-year-old Sofia Richie, Selena Gomez left a comment on the image, which depicted her ex hanging out with his girl.

"If you can't handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol – it should be special between you two only," she wrote, defending Beliebers. "Don't be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before any one ever did." Gomez then proceeded to give her fans major love on her Instagram in a way that seemed to shade Bieber.

Bieber bit back, responding, "It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way" – then the Internet officially exploded.
