Miley Cyrus ‘Inspired’ to Create #HopefulHippies Campaign Following Election

Miley Cyrus is not always the voice of reason, but she was today.

The 23-year-old singer channeled all her negative feelings about the outcome of the presidential election into something positive. Cyrus announced the launch of a new initiative of her Happy Hippie Foundation called “Hopeful Hippies.”

“OK, so no more crying from me,” Cyrus said in a video posted to Instagram. “I am accepting and hopeful, inspired and smiling. So as a reaction to this shocking election, Happy Hippie and I are launching our newest campaign, #HopefulHippies, and to do this, I’d like to start with the first pledge and say myself and Happy Hippie are putting education for young people at the very top of our list of priorities in honor, of course, [of] Hillary Clinton.”

“And I am so excited to see what we can do together, because we have made such an impact on the LGBTQ community, fighting homelessness and injustice for everyone,” she continued. “And I love you all so much. Peace is what we need. We do need to be stronger together. Thank you, thank you for making a difference.”

Cyrus was one of the many celebrities, including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Jay Z, supporting Clinton. The morning after Clinton’s defeat by Donald Trump, Cyrus posted a very different video of herself breaking down in tears.

Once she had time to collect herself, Cyrus encouraged her fans to volunteer at Planned Parenthood or the Humane Society, work with homeless youth, or support classroom projects by donating to students through DonorsChoose.org. Some of the “Wrecking Ball” singer’s fans are already sending their own #HopefulHippies posts, some also hashtagged #strongertogether, a phrase that Clinton’s campaign used as its slogan and one that Cyrus herself has adopted.

Earlier this year, Cyrus was one of the many celebs who promised to leave the country if Trump were elected. This seems like a much more effective plan.
