Miles Teller has righted a major wrong in this world — by returning his blond locks back to their natural hue.

The Whiplash star took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a photo, straight from his colorist’s chair, of his transformation back to brown. Showing that the public criticism over his color wasn’t lost on him, he also apologized to the Internet for going blond in the first place.

“Dear Internet, I’m sorry I dyed my hair blonde,” he wrote. “I never meant to hurt you. Please accept this apology.”

The 29-year-old actor debuted the bright and brassy ’do at the ESPY Awards on July 14. Even though it was temporary and for a role (Brendan McDonough in Granite Mountain), Teller, who seemed excited by the transformation per his “blonde hair don’t care” tweet, was ripped apart over it on Twitter. He was called Eminem and soccer star Abby Wambach. He was told he went from “100 to 0 real quick.”

Maybe it was the matching blond eyebrows that put people over the edge?

For the record, Teller didn’t mind his brief time being blond. He told Good Morning America in August that he was having “so much” fun with the new color.

Well, the Internet had so much fun with it too.
