Michael Bay Defends Covering Churchill's Birthplace In Nazi Flags

Michael Bay has defended his use of Winston Churchill's home in Transformers: The Last Knight, insisting that the late British Prime Minister "would be smiling" about his role in the film.

The director drew backlash last week for reimagining Churchill's birthplace in Oxfordshire as Adolf Hitler's headquarters, covering the historic Blenheim Palace in Nazi flags and swastika imagery. British military leaders described the move as disrespectful to Churchill, but Bay insists that it's the opposite.

"People were not fortunate enough to read the script," Bay told the BBC. "They don't know that Churchill in this movie is a big hero, and Churchill would be smiling about The Last Knight."

"They haven't seen the movie, they don't know the ending, and they don't know how Churchill is a hero. So, as the staff said, 'He'd be smiling right now.'" Does this mean Churchill will be fighting Megatron alongside Optimus Prime-or will Optimus Prime be fighting Churchill alongside Hitler?
