Matthew McConaughey’s Mom Turns 85 and Is Given a Super Power Lift Bra by Camila Alves

There is a lot of love — and laughter — in the McConaughey family. Matthew’s mom, Kay, just turned 85; we were given a glimpse into the fun birthday festivities, thanks to the actor’s wife, Camila Alves — and it seems things got silly.

In a photo of the birthday girl wearing a boa and a pink-and-black hat that said “Happy Birthday to Me,” Kay sat in front of a birthday cake clutching one of her gifts, a Senior Moments brand Super Power Lift Bra, which boasted springs to give her breasts a power lift. Her friends clearly liked the gag gift — which came from her daughter-in-law, Camila — since they were all chuckling behind her.

“Yes!! It is her favorite word!” Alves wrote on Instagram. “We did celebrate her 85th birthday yesterday. that’s where Matthew gets his genes from… she’s a force!! I had to mess with her a little bit check out the gift! #humor #love #motherinlaw.”

Camila has called Kay a “force” before, more specifically a “force of nature.” In October, the Yummy Spoonfuls entrepreneur shared a selfie of them together — with Kay really resembling her Oscar-winning son — with the thoughtful words, as well as hashtags including “beauty.”

You’ve all seen K-Mac, as she is often called, looking glam with her famous son (and daughter-in-law!) on the red carpet, but she lets loose too. (You don’t have a pot smoking, nude, bongo player for a son if you aren’t a bit of a firecracker yourself.) The former schoolteacher was married to Matthew’s late father, Jim, three different times (they kept getting back together after divorcing) and in her book, I Amaze Myself!, she wrote about how her husband died from a heart attack after they had sex. As if that wasn’t enough of a story, she added that when the paramedics arrived to take him away, she sent him off naked.

“I was just so proud to show off my big old Jim McConaughey — and his gift,” she told Us Weekly while promoting the book in 2008.

Kay may have also flashed her undies on the red carpet at one of Matthew’s premieres. And by may we mean she totally did, and we found a photo of it. (She was 79.)

Matthew, who has said he calls Kay every Sunday, no matter where he is in the world, told Esquire in October that he enjoys hitting the town with his mom — and not just for premieres. On the day of that interview, he was getting ready to take her to a Fleetwood Mac concert, and he predicted she would outlast him that evening, saying, “I do not remember the last time when we partied when she didn’t go to bed after me and get up before me. She’s gonna want to jam on some Kendall-Jackson [wine] tonight.”

For the record, the Kendall-Jackson aficionado loves Matthew and Camila, who have three children together, as a couple and eagerly chatted about their chances of a happily-ever-after ending — or at least having two fewer divorces than she and Jim had — during a visit to a local women’s club in her native Texas in 2012. (We’re sure it was another “Thanks, mom!” moment for the star, who recently recalled how Kay once gave a reporter a tour of his childhood bedroom.)

When asked if her son’s marriage would last, without hesitation, she said her favorite word, “Yes!” She went on to call Camila the “perfect” woman for Matthew, saying, “I’ve never seen two people connect like they did, and I just marvel at how well they get along,” according to the Corsicana Daily Sun. “I can’t imagine them not making this work, because they’re so suited for each other.”

And seeing how Camila gave Kay that crazy bra, which Kay so clearly enjoyed getting, it seems that Camila is perfectly suited for the McConaughey clan. They have a good time — and, of course, they just keep livin’.
