Mary Murphy returning to judge ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

The hot tamale train is returning to the station. Mary Murphy will be back as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance for season 14 this summer.

She’ll be joined at the judges’ table by executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and an additional judge yet to be announced. Cat Deeley will also be back as the host.

“I am thrilled that Mary will return to So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m sure the fans will be, as well,” Lythgoe said in a statement. “She brings an energy and enthusiasm that’s contagious, and I can’t wait for her to join me on the judging panel. I’ve got a pair of earplugs ready and another for our third resident judge, as well.”

The show’s queen of ballroom dance, who is known for her loud screams, left the judges’ table after season 11.

Season 14 is shaping up to be a return to all that is holy for SYTYCD fans, with Murphy’s return as well as the return to the format of dancers ages 18-30 (as opposed to season 13, which highlighted kids) competing to be crowned America’s Favorite Dancer. Auditions are ongoing.
