London Mayor Has 'More Important Things' to Worry About Than Donald Trump Jr.'s Tweet -- But Twitter Has Plenty to Say
Donald Trump Jr. is feeling the fury of Twitter.
The oldest son of President Donald Trump has been branded a “disgrace” after he sent out a tweet criticizing London Mayor Sadiq Khan just hours after a terror attack at the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday.
“You have to be kidding me?!: Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan,” Trump Jr. tweeted on Wednesday as details were still emerging on the attack that claimed the lives of three people.
He included a link to an article published by The Independent in September 2016 that quoted Khan as saying the threat of terror attacks are “part and parcel of living in a big city.” Khan’s remarks were intended to urge Londoners and police to be prepared to combat potential attacks.

Asked about the tweet by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Thursday, Khan fired back: “I’m not going to respond to a tweet from Donald Trump Jr. I’ve been doing far more important things over the last 24 hours.”

Meanwhile, British Labour politician Wes Streeting led the Twitter backlash in the U.K., calling the president’s son “a disgrace.”
@DonaldJTrumpJr You use a terrorist attack on our city to attack London's Mayor for your own political gain. You're a disgrace.

Is this helpful @DonaldJTrumpJr? Did you even read the article before goading London's Mayor during a live incident?https://t.co/Sm68UOcJQG

Headline is based on very first sentence, which if you'd bothered to read it could apply to any major city in the world. Key word: "threat" pic.twitter.com/u2S9WA7yoA

How dare you @DonaldJTrumpJr you take an article from @MayorofLondon from a year ago and do this at a time like this. #London

London is lucky to have @SadiqKhan as mayor, esp. at this tragic moment. Shame on @DonaldJTrumpJr for this: https://t.co/0U3nW2DbnH
