Linkin Park launch website to honor Chester Bennington
Following the death of vocalist Chester Bennington, Linkin Park launched a website honoring their late frontman that features Twitter tributes and a message urging those in crisis to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Bennington died by suicide at age 41 on Thursday, and multiple fans of the band have spoken out to pay tribute to the vocalist. Linkin Park have not issued an official statement, though guitarist Mike Shinoda tweeted Thursday to confirm the news. “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true,” he wrote. “An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
The band also canceled the remainder of its summer tour, and Blink-182 announced that they have canceled their mini-tour with Linkin Park — titled Welcome to Blinkin Park — scheduled to kick off in late July.
The new website, available to view here, urges “people in crisis” to call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK or text “HELLO” to the Crisis Text Line at 741741 (also available to message at facebook.com/CrisisTextLine) for support.
